Strategic Betting: How to Select the Right Roulette Bets for Your Style

Tired of haphazard bets? Don’t want to rely on luck solely? Been there. I’ve been both, actually. A risk-taker at first and a cautious player afterward. I used to play roulette in Playfina because they’ve got it all. I mean, classics like European and American roulette, and a French one as well. And their live dealers are just spectacular. Yet if you aspire for faster wins, Auto roulette, too, is at your disposal here. The same goes for Multi-Wheel roulette.

The game, indeed, can be a maze of options. However, as soon as I thought that choosing the right bet doesn’t have to be a shot in the dark, I decided to refine my approach and spin with precision. Here’s what I learned and advise you to apply to your gameplay as well.

Types of Roulette Bets

Inside

Each inside bet offers different odds and potential payouts It allows you to adapt your strategy to match your risk appetite.

  • Straight Up: Betting on a single number. It’s the high-risk, high-reward move.
  • Split: This covers two adjacent numbers. A slightly safer choice.
  • Street: Placing a bet on three numbers in a row. It adds a bit more coverage.
  • Corner: A bet on four numbers forming a square. A pretty good balance of risk and reward.
  • Six Line: Betting on two adjacent rows (six numbers).

Outside

Prefer broader strokes over granular detail? Then, outside bets are your choice. They cover wider sections of the wheel and, thus, give you more chances to win. Albeit with lower payouts.

  • Red or Black: Betting on the color of the winning number. It’s the quintessential roulette bet. It offers nearly even odds.
  • Odd or Even: Here, you’re wagering on whether the winning number is odd or even. This bet provides a 50/50 shot minus the house edge.
  • High or Low: You bet on whether the number will fall in the high range (19-36) or low range (1-18).
  • Dozens: This bet covers one of three dozen number ranges.
  • Columns: You wager on one of the three vertical columns of numbers.

Call (French)

Call bets, or French bets, are unique to French roulette. They align with the wheel’s layout rather than individual numbers.

  • Voisins du Zero: This bet covers the numbers closest to zero, encompassing a span of 17 numbers. It’s a fan favorite for its broad coverage and pays 2 to 1 on a winning number.
  • Tiers du Cylindre: Positioned on the wheel’s opposite side from Voisins du Zero, this bet covers 12 numbers. Plus, it mirrors the payout of 2 to 1.
  • Orphelins: The bet for the remaining numbers not included in the other two call bets. Covering 8 numbers, Orphelins also pays 2 to 1.

Special

Special bets spice up your strategy and align with the roulette wheel’s layout. Yep, that easy.

  • Neighbor Bets: Involve wagering on a chosen number along with its immediate neighbors on the wheel. That way, a small cluster of bets is created.
  • Final Bets: Focus on the final digit of a number. They allow you to bet on all numbers ending in a particular digit (like, 2, 12, 22, and so on.)
