Solo travel is a crucial and beautiful experience for women to experience. The benefits are amazing; they are:

  • Gets out of your comfort zone
  • Helps you build and gain more confidence
  • Betters your language skills
  • Offers you a wider perspective on the world

Now that you want to go travel solo, here are some tips we’ve gathered to help you!

Be Vigilant

One huge difference to the way a man travels compared to a woman is the level of carefulness. We’ve heard about sexual assault rates, and we know bad people target innocent people, but it won’t hurt to be extra careful. Be discerning when choosing your accommodations; it has to be safe and near public transportation.

Some women drink even less when traveling. They still take alcohol but they are stricter about their safety. They usually book their lodgings in a hostel or hotel, whatever the safer option in the location is.

Try A Lot of New Activities

When in a new place, you have to leave some room to be spontaneous, too! You can test out your luck, by playing the PBA odds within your hotel room or if you’re in an area where gambling is the special, like Las Vegas, it is a must!

If you are in Taiwan, or Japan, you can try out a lot of new cuisine. Taiwan is renowned for its tea and prolific food profiles. Might be a good idea to bring home snacks!

It also depends on your location, if it has a specialty.

Some fun activities to try are:

  • Surfing
  • Swimming
  • Rapeling
  • Exploring new food
  • Go on a museum tour

The possibilities are endless!

Keep Your Contacts Close

The unfortunate reality of being a woman is that we have to take the extra mile so that we can be safe. But there are universal precautions and preparations that women and men can both take while on the road!

When you’re out, always let someone know where you are, and also keep your contacts close. Don’t forget to also save the local hotline for tourists in case of emergencies.

Overprepare

Allow leeway in your budget. When you’re out there, you need to be prepared 5x more than usual, so we recommend booking things in advance, carry medicine, clothes, and keep the contacts reachable.

Adjust As Needed

Lastly, you also need to give yourself allowance for making adjustments in your travel. When you go from different time zones, your body also has to adjust. It also needs time for recovery. Thus, you really need to adjust and allot time for resting, too.

Travel can be an exhausting endeavor. Schedule a light day or rest one for your first day! YOur body will thank you for it!

Wrapping Up

When traveling, you learn a lot. You also have to be careful about your safety. However, remember: it’s an opportunity to learn new things, explore new sights and of course, enjoy.
